Biting Policy
Biting is a natural developmental stage that many children go through. It is usually a temporary condition that is most common between thirteen and twenty-four months of age. The safety of the children at the daycare is my primary concern. However, biting will not be tolerated and dealt with accordingly and on a case by case basis.
Biter's parents
- You will be informed of the incident either at pick up or phone call depending on the severity of the bit
- You will be informed of the severity or mildness of the incident
- You will be informed of what disciple your child has already received and whether or not you need to pick up your child immediately
- If this is a recurring problem, care can be terminated with or without notice depending on the severity of the behaviour
- If your child is 2 years or older your child will need to be picked up immediately if he/she bits more than once in the day or breaks the skin
- If your child is younger than 2 years old your child will be sent home if he/she bits more than five (5) times during the day or breaks the skin
